Speech & Debate
The Bolton Academy Speech & Debate Team empowers students to develop confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills through competitive public speaking and debate. Our team competes in local and national tournaments, sharpening their abilities in argumentation, persuasive speaking, and performance. Participation fosters leadership, teamwork, and academic excellence, preparing students for success in school and beyond. Whether delivering compelling speeches or engaging in thought-provoking debates, our students learn to express themselves effectively and think on their feet—skills that last a lifetime!
Speech and Debate practice will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Any interested students in grades 6-12 may pick up an information packet from Mrs. Waits.
We plan to compete at the following tournaments:
October 25th - Ascension Episcopal
November 21st-22nd - Abbeville High
December 5th-6th - Southside High
January 9th-10th - Peabody Magnet High
February 6th-7th - Parkway High
February 20th-21st - Kaplan High
State Tournament - March 26th - 28th*
*To qualify for state in an event, students will need to compete in that event at at least 2 tournaments.
